Parties

We’re offering two nights of social dancing – a place to work on the stuff you’ve learnt in workshops, watch performances, throw down in the Mix and Match competition and – most of all – party!

Friday night will kick off with a one hour welcome class with Jonatan and Anna. We’ll have live music from the Liam Budge Jazz Band for both Friday and Saturday night. Liam is back in Canberra, fresh from six years playing in New York and ready to raise the roof. We also have a very special guest, Andrew Dickeson, who leads the Blue Rhythm Band from Sydney and will be drumming the night away with Liam. Over the weekend we’ll also have DJs Adam and Richard to keep you moving between band breaks and for the Mix and Match competition.

Mix and Match Competition

It wouldn’t be The Jam without the Mix and Match competition on Saturday night. This is a social dance competition to test your skills as a leader or follower and is a whole lot of fun. You will dance with different randomly assigned partners to several songs with different tempos. The heats will be judged as individuals. Dancers who make it to the finals will be randomly matched up with a partner and will dance in a spotlight format and be judged as a couple. Open for everybody, just put your name down at the door starting Friday night.
